Changing the Microsoft account that an Xbox account is under

I don’t understand this if they can’t be separated

It would not help you at all in terms of logging in. You have to make yours a primary alias for it to make any significant changes.

If I was to make a different email the primary alias and delete hers as a secondary would that then put the Microsoft account in my name along with cause me to receive her emails and be the email she uses to log into other accounts?

She still uses the email for outlook, if I was to make my email a secondary alias, how would that work as far as logging in ?

Unfortunately, you cannot change the Microsoft account your Xbox profile is associated with. The Xbox profile is part of a Microsoft account, so it cannot be transferred to another account. The next best thing you could do is to change the email address associated with your sister's Microsoft account in case she is not using it anymore.
