Changing privacy settings on the Xbox windows 10 app

If when you set the account up, you put a birthdate that is currently under the age of 18. The site will read it as a child account. You may change the birthdate on the Microsoft site, unfortunately, you are unable to on the Xbox site. Also, if you are in
a family and set as a child with an adult account this could cause this error.

• With the first option, you would need the parent account to log in and adjust the settings.
• With option two, all you need to do is leave the family. However, if you do in fact have a child account you will orphan the account.

Thank you, although partially helpful the problem remains that I can't access xbox.com to change the settings, as the page on my Microsoft account only has a link to there which redirects as usual.

To change privacy and safety settings for you or a child

1. Sign in to the adult's Microsoft account.
2. If you’ve forgotten your account email address or password, see the Lost Account Solution or the Lost
   Password Solution.
3. To change settings for yourself, continue to step 5.
4. To change settings for a child, choose the gamertag for your child's account.
5. Select the tab for Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety or Privacy. Review the current settings and update any that you want to change.
6. Select Save before leaving or switching to another tab. If you don't save the changes before you move to the other tab, your changes won't be saved.
7. If you changed settings for your child, have them sign in and then sign out of their account to make the changes take effect.

Thank you for coming to the forums. That's a pretty odd issue as your Xbox Live on Windows 10 privacy settings are managed online on account.xbox.com and then selecting "Privacy settings" on the profile when it's displayed. The only indication I can think
of causing this is that the age of the account you are using was set up using a birthdate of a child account.

What steps are you taking to get into the privacy settings of the profile online?

Have you tried different browsers and clearing the cookies and browsing history?
