Changing my Microsoft/Xbox Account to an Adult Account

Are you really an adult? Does your Microsoft account has an adult birthdate without you ever changing it? I ask because child accounts cannot change their Xbox profile privacy settings. Doesn't matter if they are on a family group or not. Also, changing your Microsoft account birthdate does not change your Xbox profile birthdate. So if you try to change it to make yourself an adult, it will not work. The Xbox profile birthdate is set when you create your Xbox profile and cannot be changed.

So please tell me if you are really an adult or you just changed your Microsoft account birthdate to be an adult. Or if you are an adult but your Microsoft account birthdate was wrong when you created it - which would also make your Xbox profile not be an adult now.

In regards to the Custom Gamerpic, your account would need to be an adult account, not just set to adult defaults under your Privacy and online safety.

As stated in the support article for
Changing your Xbox One gamerpic, Custom images are only available for adult Microsoft accounts. So if your account has a child DOB on it you won't be allowed to change it until the account is graduated to an adult account.

Hi there, When I first got the account, it was et to a adult account with the year as '90

I turned 18 yesterday. And I have been trying for a whole day now to change my account status to an adult (I wanna join the Sea of Thieves Insider Program, what can I say?) I have been trying everything I find on any threads I can, both on and off
of Microsoft's website, and nothing has worked. I'm hoping I can just send proof of my age to someone at Microsoft so they can change account status on their end, but I don't think it's possible. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Your account automatically gets turned into an adult account once it turns 18 (based on the date of birth entered when the account was created) the date of birth on an Xbox account cannot be changed either.

If your account didnt automatically get converted to an adult account then it sounds like maybe you had a typo in your date of birth when your account was first created

Trust me, it hasn't auto-updated yet, which you think it would. And no, my birthdate was not entered incorrectly, hence why I'm hoping Microsoft can do something about it on their end. Believe me, every other service I have an account on has been relatively
easy to upgrade-except for Microsoft.
