Changing Minecraft email

My son has played Minecraft on my email account for years. We originally set it up this way as he was young. Now that he is older we want to change to his email. He is telling me that he will loose all progress in the game if we do. Is there a way to change the email associated with his Minecraft account?

The most closest thing to that is adding a new alias to the Microsoft Account and remove the parent’s email. But keep in mind that if your friend removed the parent’s email, the parent is going to lose access to the account and all the emails inside it
