Changing email under microsoft/xbox account - Will I lose anything?

I understand you need help with changing an email.

Just a heads up, changing your Xbox email is the same as changing your Microsoft email. So what ever is tied up to that account, it will be connected to the new email that you changed it to.

The email that you will be removing will not anymore be a Microsoft account and will no longer have access to what ever is tied up to that new email from that Microsoft account.

If you have Microsoft 365 family, that will be tied up to the new email.

The XBox account is intrinsically linked to your Microsoft account...so you would, in effect, be giving him your Microsoft account as well. An Xbox account cannot be removed from a Microsoft account. Not to mention giving someone else your account details is against the TOS

If I'm not mistaken, you can change the email associated with a Gamertag without losing anything.

Sorry to hear your running into this error. Let's see what we can do.

So that new email you created, is it less than 30 days old? That may be the reason you are getting that error. When you create a new account, or transfer it to a different account, you must wait 30 days to transfer it again.

One other possible reason we are seeing this error, would be if any of those accounts are "child" accounts. If that is the case, you would be required to provide the "adult" account info to make that change.

Let us know if either of those apply, and we can go from there.

[/quote]In that scenario, you won't lose anything but you can't directly switch gamertags between Microsoft Accounts (e-mails) when they're both assigned to a gamertag. If you haven't created another account with your other e-mail,
don't. Instructions are here.

You can change the Microsoft account that's associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag. Here's how:

1. Sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag.
2. Go to Settings and select Account.

1. Scroll right to Your Information and select Account Security.
2. Select Microsoft account (Your Microsoft account is your Windows Live ID.)
   
3. Do one of the following:

• If you already have another Microsoft account, select Yes.
• If you don't have another Microsoft account, go to accounts.live.com and click Sign up. After you have another Microsoft account set up, select Yes and continue with the next step.
  

• Enter the password for the Microsoft account that is currently associated with your gamertag and select Sign in.
  
• Enter the email address and the password for the new Microsoft account that you want to associate with your gamertag, and then select Sign in.
  
• Select Yes, change to change the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox LIVE account.
  
• Select Update Contact Information to update your contact information or Done to finish.
  

If you have already created the new e-mail, go to the aforementioned link, it tells you what to do if both Microsoft Accounts are tied to gamertags already.

EDIT: Yes, everything seamlessly transfers over to your new e-mail.
