changing email on an xbox account - will i lose anything during the process?

so from the little research that I've done, I've learned that it is possible to lose my account, I've also learned that there is a way to transfer it but you need a new email with no Xbox account assigned to it. but a lot of the information I found is really old and might be outdated, so I am not sure if this is correct, so please confirm. Also do I have to worry about games that use the Xbox accounts original email for an in game account (Ex. Call of Duty Warzone)? Another thing I am worried about is the games and Xbox Gamepass Ultimate that I pay for on it? and if there is anything else that I might need to be concerned about it would be great to know.

A note that might need to be considered is that I am also moving from my Xbox 1 to an Xbox X, so far I have done nothing and I will be waiting on an answer here before I do anything.

so if it was a new email i have to wait a week before making it primary? if it wasn't a new email would that work without waiting a week?

login to your microsoft account and create a alias address, this will allow you to create a brand new email address that is only connected to your account, then give it a week then make that primary and then you have officially changed your email address and not lost anything, then once you have changed the email on any services you use it for you can then remove the old email alias,

what i am interested in doing is trying to remove the current email and add another email in its place? would this still work without losing data?

Hello ProfPenguin10, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

No worries about changing your email. All content purchased on an account stays on that account regardless of whether or not you change the email address. You will need to create a brand new account that does not have an attachment to Xbox yet.

However, if you remove your current email from the account then Xbox will think you no longer want it and delete it permanently so it's best to leave that email as a Secondary
