Changing email associated with Xbox account without affecting Outlook

    Hi there.

My situation is that I made my Xbox account under my mothers email, since I was a child at the time.

Now that I have my own email, I need to transfer my Xbox account to my email. However, I cannot delete or change the primary alias on my mother’s email since she still uses it for Outlook.

How can I change the email associated with the Xbox account without affecting my mother’s outlook account?

    :)

Changing email associated with Xbox account without affecting Outlook

Hello, JoeJames3. Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lucas, and I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Your Xbox profile is associated with your Microsoft account and cannot be transferred to any other Microsoft account.

Unfortunately your only option is to add an alias email address to your mother's Microsoft account (which is associated with your Xbox profile).

I'm really sorry about this and I hope you understand.

Feel free to ask back any question you may have.

Microsoft unwilling/unable to delete Live ID & Gamertag

I've actually had a random gamertag (Xbox LIVE account) associated to a Hotmail/Outlook LIVE email address when I created it.

    .

Surely you should be able to log into the new account that was created when you created the new Outlook email address.

Change the email address associated with that new account, freeing up the new Outlook email address that you created.

Change the email address of your CURRENT Xbox LIVE ID to that new Outlook email address. Doing all that while on the computer, should still have that same Outlook email assigned to your phone, ON your phone. I don't have a Windows phone but that's basically
what I had to do when it messed up on my new Windows 8 laptop.

    .

However, with the new local currency that Microsoft has switched to, changing the LIVE ID associated with a gamertag MIGHT remove all remaining funds off the account.

Moving digital content from one account to the other

Unfortunately there is not anyway to do this once content is purchased on an account it is permanently attached to that account.

If you are wanting to change the email address associated with the account you can but it can not be an email that is already attached to another MS account. Here is a support link on how to change the email address associated with a MS account.

    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/microsoft-account/change-email-sign-in-for-microsoft-account

Keep in mind since you said that your current email is an outlook account if you do add another alias to your account and then remove the outlook account that outlook email will be GONE FOREVER and not be able to get it back so if you still want to use that
outlook email DO NOT remove it from your account. You can still add another email to the account as an alias and use it to sign in with and keep the outlook email on there at the same time but IF you REMOVE the outlook email from the account again it will
    be GONE FOREVER.

how do change my xbox live email account

If you are using a Microsoft email address (@live, @outlook, @hotmail) then changing email address will close the associated Microsoft account down and you will have no access to email or other services and products associated with it.

    Move Xbox gametag/profile to daughter

    Hi, you can
change the email associated withan Xbox account
by adding a new email to the account and then removing the old one. Note that an existing @outlook/@live/@hotmailaccount is considered an existing Microsoft account with Microsoft/Xbox information associated
with it and therefore can't be used, even if that account has never used Xbox Live features before. You could create a new @outlook/@live account in the process of setting up the new email, or use another email from another provider that is not already linked
as an alias to a different Microsoft account. Hope this helps!
