Changing email address connected to Xbox Account.

Hey guys,

There’s been so many posts about different issues regarding changing an email address connected to an Xbox account but no real continuity across answers.

This account has been compromised severely and has been hacked many times, even with extensive security measures. I have now decided to create a new email address and start fresh. Upon creating one I realised I still have all my Xbox data from over the years associated with this specific Microsoft Account. I would just like to change the email address connected to my Xbox live account that is all.

Surely this is something that can be done, thank you.

Hi there,

Hoping I understand the issue correct, the following steps might be an option:

These steps should allow you to switch around the primary email addresses connected to both accounts

(this won't change any purchase/services linked to the MS account, only the primary email)

in order to achieve that, it might be possible to use a 3rd (temporary) email address (Microsoft Account).

Currently both email addresses have a MS and Xbox Live Account.

If you change the primary email for the account with the email address you want to use on your MS account connected to Random GT account to that new 3rd email address, that should result in the Celts12085 email to be free and after that you should be able
to change the primary email address connected to the Aragorn12085 account to Celts12085 email address.

Keep in mind that None of these accounts should be logged in on any device while doing this, so not on Windows PC, Phone or console etc. The reason for that is, that if they are signed in at anything related to Windows (10) it could result in a new Xbox
Live Account (with random GT) being generated.

I hope the steps are clear and that I understood this correctly.

To remove that gamertag that is connected to your 'main' email (Microsoft Account), just change the connected gamertag connected to a new Microsoft account.

So first free up your 'correct' email address by moving the connected gamertag to a new Microsoft Account

and after that you should be able to change the 'email' (Microsoft Account) for your main gamertag to your 'correct' email address (Microsoft Account)

Just change the email address on xbox account 2 to some free email address and once that is done change the email address on Account 1 to the address that was on account 2.

to change the email address connected to your xbox live account (used for loggin in and downloading the profile etc), please follow the steps on this link:

If there are currently somehow two profiles connected to the same email address (Microsoft Account) try changing one of the accounts to another Microsoft Account (email address) that might fix the issue

Sorry to say but any type of content transfer between Microsoft accounts can't be made

The most closest thing to that is deleting the current alias (email) associated with the Microsoft account and create or add an existing one (the existing alias can't be a Microsoft email/domain)
