    Changing an account to a Child account


    Hello all.
    My brother has purchased some sort of Xbox family gamepass, and wants my account to be connect to it. I don't know much about it and he hasn't been all that forthcoming with information. Apparently he needs my account (We're both unsure if it has to be my Microsoft of Xbox accounts) to be a child account, and I don't know if that is something I do or if that is just what a linked account to his gamepass is called. I doubt this wouId change much, but he uses the Console, while I use PC. hope I'm not making a fool of myself, and I hope I selected the proper categories for this question

    Edit: I'm asking because I have Minecraft Bedrock addition on my PC, and the achievements are connected to my pre existing Xbox account. If I can't change my current account to a Child account, will I have to make a new one? And if so, will I lose access to my Minecraft saves?

    You can change a child account to an adult account, but you can't change an adult account to a child account. In order to manage them, you would have to create new child accounts for them.

    Only an adult (parental account) can make the changes in privacy settings for a child account. The child account can't perform the changes itself.

    Once you register an xbox live account as a child account you can't change it. The parental account can change privacy settings of the child account though.

    If the account you have is a child account, you will not be able to change any settings yourself. Only an adult account linked to the child account will be able to change these settings.

    Hey Xwarrior,

    Did this account graduate naturally from a child account to an adult account or was there a birthday change attempt? You can change the birthdate to the Microsoft account but it will not change the birthdate that was entered originally to the Xbox profile.

    In other words, a child account will remain a child account until it graduates naturally to an adult account. No way around it.
