Changed security info now gamer tag not linked to same account

I changed the email associated with my Microsoft account (I did not create a new account just changed the email to a primary email address**) and now when I sign In online, not on a console, it doesn’t show that I have a gamer tag linked to the account at all. When I try and sign in on Xbox.com it prompts me to add a new gamer tag.

I am fearful of removing the gamer tag from my console and trying to add it will result in me losing it completely from that because I cannot access it on Microsoft.com or Xbox.com (again prompts me to make a new gamer tag)

The biggest issue is not losing all my saved games (excuse to replay games) but losing all my paid for DLC throughout the years.

Again this is the same account with the gamer tag, but just after the 30 day wait period after I changed the email it no longer is linked.

I understand, in this case I recommend you to contact support directly through the contact page that you find in any browser, it is not normal that they ask you to enter a new gamertag as if it were a completely new account.

Yes everything functioned as normal for the 30 days, it seems that the official change over with the security information (new primary email) now I cannot enter the correct credentials on my gamer tag on my consoles, and when I sign in to my updated (but original) Microsoft account it does not have my gamer tag information, when I check on Xbox.com link it prompts me to make a new gamer tag with no option to input my old gamer tag . Again I don’t care about losing game progress (mostly Xbox 360) but do not want to have to pay and re-download all the DLC associated with my old gamer tag

You mention that you made the change 30 days ago, correct?

During this time you still kept the same gamertag and could access your games normally?

also - if its a security issue - then can we not have the security be surrounding the windows account not the gamertag? Have all the financial info and confidential information linked to the windows account... but the gamer tag ... shoot, I should be able
to have three gamertags if I want with three separate avatars... all linked to the same windows account. Welcome to the online world. creating a one-to-one relationship was just plain laziness to begin with - any software and/or database engineer would have
known that going in.

actuly i want to keep the same gamertag i just want to unlink the ea account that is link right now on my gamer tag to link my new one ( the one i use every where ) and is there a way to see witch account is link to my gamer tag right now
