Changed password a few weeks ago, can no longer sign into Xbox App on pc, and "Send Code"...

So A few weeks ago I lost all my data on Forza horizon five and they said to open it on a PC I didn’t have a game installed so I tried to download it last night I shut down the PC but I don’t know yet the download was gonna cancel it when I woke up today I went on the Microsoft Store downloaded the game but on the Xbox app when I click sign in nothing happened Because when I download a game it sends me to the Xbox app

Microsoft takes account security seriously so where they send out verification codes is called security proofs. Which are used to do anything major with accounts I.E. changing passwords, email addresses, resetting passwords, also signing into systems that
you have never signed into berfore if you forgot your password and need to recover your account they will also send out the verification to the security proofs.

So to get to your issue if you have access to the email and password for an account but no longer have access to a security proof Microsoft will allow you to change your security proof. But there is a 30 day waiting period before that change takes affect.
Hence the situation that you are in. during that 30 days you can not do anything that requires a verification code being sent out.

Now I see in your response to another poster that you were able to get back into that old email so since you now have regained access to that old security proof you can sign in at account.live.com and when the box pops up saying your security proof change
is still pending you can click on the choice to cancel request it will send out verification email to old email and you can cancel that request then. you can go in and request the change to security proof again and again it will want to send out the verification
code to your old security proofs but you now have access to that email and can put in the verification code it sends to you and make the change immediately without the 30 day wait. and you should be able to sign into your girlfriends console and when it wants
to send out verification code it you will have access to the security proof that it wants to send it to.

You say the xbox is 4 years old is it an xbox 360 or a One?

Can he sign into account.xbox.com or account.microsoft.com with the same error or does it allow you to sign in?

If it is a 360 and you can sign into either of the above websites then make sure his password is not longer then 16 characters the 360s do not like passwords longer then 16 characters and you can change the password by the link in the previous posters post.

if when the ea app is opening and that app is then sending you a code to and email that does not exist then this is on EA side, as you are already signed into the gamepass and xbox app on the pc.

At your first attempt to sign in, you would tap the "change password" tab. It should send you a code to your email, and you will be directed to the correct page to change your password.
