Changed gamertag on an Xbox 360, ended up with two gamertags

Thanks for the reply. I changed it on February 3rd so It seems something went wrong. Would the number of characters be a problem? The gamertag is 15 characters.

Ah yes, that would definitely be the issue. The 360 tag will now be considered kind of a legacy tag as the Xbox One and Series consoles do not support anything longer than 12 (or 13).

When did you change the gamertag? It can take up to a week for the change to take effect. During this time you may see the double tag.

Everyone has two gamertags, the old one also referred to as the classic gamertag from Xbox 360 times, and a newer one, that is used in newer consoles and on PCs.

If you change your gamertag and use characters that aren't supported in the old Xbox 360 gamertag or that is more than 15 characters long, that won't change, and you'll end up with two different gamertags.

I only changed the gamertag on 360. I have my actual name and two gamertags on the Xbox One. One old, one new, on the same profile.
