Changed email account but continue to receive Xbox emails to the old account

I can't seem to find an option to actually speak to a support tech about this, so I'm hoping someone here can help out.

A while ago (think around 2019-2020), I changed the email account associated with my Xbox/Microsoft account. I can see in my account details that the email is listed there, I sign in using that email address, and have received various emails from Microsoft there. I've confirmed that, in my account, I do not see the old email address anywhere.

I still have access to the old email address and check it from time to time (the email was linked to accounts on other sites that had been hacked, so I switched everything including my Xbox account out of caution), and just saw that I received several emails about Xbox Live 360 games no longer being discontinued and even an email from Skype saying that my recent purchase of Microsoft 365 grants me a free account there; the emails address me by my gamertag, so it's not just some random marketing emails that I can unsubscribe from.

But I received the purchase confirmation for Microsoft 365 in my current email account, along with confirmations of game purchases, so it seems like Microsoft has the old email account stored somewhere and I cannot get rid of it.

I'm hoping someone can help me out here and direct me somewhere that I can speak to an actual person about this instead of constantly being told through the support site that I have to use the community (no offense, but I do think I need a support tech to look into this issue since my account doesn't have this email address listed anywhere visible in my account details). Or maybe someone else ran into this issue before and knows how to fix it?

    :)

Changed email account but continue to receive Xbox emails to the old account

Thanks for this info. I tried signing in with the old email address and it tells me there is no account associated with it. I've confirmed that the old email account is not listed anywhere in my profile as well.

I think maybe I'll have to try getting in touch with support by submitting the issue as something not associated with email, as using that as an option seems to send me to the forums and not allow me to speak to a support tech.

Unless you fully delete the email, the email used when creating an Xbox account will always be the email tied to that account. Changing your contact info or adding an alias does not change this.

Changed email account but continue to receive Xbox emails to the old account

I may be able to help here, as I was having pretty much the same exact thing happening, your situation is very similar to what I had going on for quite some time. For a while I kind of just gave up & figured it was something bugged out in the system. I did exactly what you did when my old email got all spammy I decided to change it for security reasons, I still have access to my old email but use it for less important things.. One day I noticed I was still getting some emails from Microsoft/Xbox addressing me by my GT & found this quite odd as all my other emails would go to the new email, anything to do with verification or game purchases would go to the new email, but just a few randoms would go to the old email.

I pretty much just gave up & left it alone for a few years as the emails going to the old email address weren't necessarily important, but recently decided to look into it again & I've managed to figure it out. if you're using a phone to edit your settings you're going to want to make sure you make the website visible in "Desktop Mode" or "Desktop Site" while doing this because the setting you need to change isn't visible while viewing the mobile version of the Xbox website.

So basically you're going to want to go to Xbox.com & sign in, then from there make sure you've switched to Desktop View or Desktop Site depending on the browser you're using, you'll then click your little profile icon in the top right corner to show a small drop down menu. You'll see two links "My Microsoft Account" & "Xbox Profile". Look to the right side of the Xbox Profile link & you'll see 3 dots. Click those 3 dots & you'll get a little pop up menu, choose the "Xbox Settings" options from there.

The Xbox Settings page will load & the next thing from there will be selecting the "Contact Preferences" option on the left side of the Xbox Settings page (make sure you're in desktop view mode or this option will not be visible) and then changing your email once the contact preferences page loads. You will see 3 options on this page, 2 of which are boxes you can toggle on or off by ticking the check mark, & the 3rd option is to change the preferred contact email at the bottom.

I've went through this process & found out that it was still linked to my old email all along, I never knew this option was here because I've never viewed the page from a computer/desktop, always on a mobile device & didn't think to switch my browser to Desktop View until today. Once I did that I quickly noticed that there were much more options to choose from in the Xbox Settings page than there are on the mobile optimized webpage. I was able to tick a few boxes off & also change the old email. I do believe this should help as your situation is nearly identical to what I was experiencing. Hopefully this helps if you haven't figured it out already. Good luck!

Changed email account but continue to receive Xbox emails to the old account

Hi there! This is Ronnie, an independent adviser.

Nice to meet you and I hope you are having a great day!

I understand you need help on your account emails.

Supposedly, what ever your email is already on the account is where you would be receiving email communications as well from promos and other stuff.

It is possible that the email has it's own Microsoft account. I would suggest try signing in on that email to see if the account still exist with that email log in. You can try changing the password as well to check if you can.

This is also where you check your email:

    https://account.microsoft.com/profile

    And your mailing address:

    https://account.microsoft.com/billing/addresses

If they do not contain your old email, then there is a big possibility that it is tied up to a different account.

    Hope that helps!

Changed email account but continue to receive Xbox emails to the old account

I did fully delete the old email back when I changed my profile. It's not associated at all under my account; didn't do it in contact info or add the new email as an alias. If I remember correctly, I removed it after changing the email for my account. I don't see it anywhere in my profile, so there's something else going on here.
