Change Xbox gamertag to new to email after old account was locked due to hacking

My Microsoft account was locked down as it was hacked. I've had this account for over 15years and microsoft won't unlock it due to suspicious behavior. I can't sign in to my old microsoft account so that I can assign my gamertag to a new email account.
This means I can no longer access my Xbox account which took me years to build up and I can no longer access all my purchases. In my opinion this is blatant robbery. Is there any way to change your Gamertag to a new email without being able to sign into your
old account? Microsoft customer support have been awful in trying to help me with this. Is there anybody who had similar issues or got it resolved?

No, you have to sign in first, and after you'll be able to assign a new alias. At this point, only Microsoft support can help you out with this and provide you more information on this case.

Xbox Support would be the only ones who can help in this matter.

Do you know if there is a way to merge the accounts then? My old email address, that is also a gmail account, needed to be changed due to security problems. I changed my email and want to be able to keep my Gamertag but using the new email address. My goal is to get all accounts attached to the old email changed to the new one for security reasons. I really appreciate your willingness to answer my questions!

As you mentioned that you suspect that this gamertag is linked to one of your old email accounts. I will suggest login to your old email account and change the email address of that one with your new email address as described here https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/12407/microsoft-account-change-email-phone-number

Or you can delete or change your gamertag by accessing your old email account first.

You can do that or you can do use the old email address for the new gamertag but you will need to change the email address on the old gamertag, which will make the email address free to use on a new account.
