Change User Profile for Minecraft to Child's Account

I bought Minecraft for my child to play. The account is linked to my email account. I want it linked to my child's account so that the appropriate age filters can be applied. How do I change the email address associated with the minecraft account?

    :)

Change User Profile for Minecraft to Child's Account

    Hi there SunVK.

I am Lumie and I would love to assist you today.

I am sorry you are having issues with your childs account.

You cannot change an email address for a Minecraft account.

Minecraft has some built-in parental controls, especially in the Bedrock Edition. You can configure these settings to limit online interactions and access to inappropriate content.

    Steps to Configure:
Open Minecraft and go to the main menu.
    Select "Settings".
    Navigate to "Profile".
Toggle "Restrict Access to Chat" to prevent your child from seeing or sending messages in chat.
Set "Multiplayer Settings" to restrict access to online servers or realms, allowing them to play in single-player or on private servers you control.

Utilize Xbox Family Settings for Bedrock Edition
If you're using the Bedrock Edition on Windows 10, Xbox, or mobile, you can use the Xbox Family Settings app or Microsoft Family Safety to set up parental controls.

    Steps to Configure:
Download the Xbox Family Settings App or access the Microsoft Family Safety website.
Create a child account linked to your Microsoft account.
Set screen time limits, content restrictions, and enable activity reporting.
Manage privacy settings to restrict who can communicate with your child or see their profile.

Set Up Parental Controls for Java Edition
For the Java Edition, you’ll need to set up parental controls directly through your computer’s operating system or via third-party software.

    Windows:
Create a child account in Windows.
Use the Family Options in Windows Security to set up screen time limits and content filters.
    Mac:
Go to System Preferences > Parental Controls.
Create a managed account for your child and set restrictions on websites and application usage.

    I hope this helps.

I am here to help further if you need. -Lumie

still have age filtering on xbox game pass pc even though age clearly over 18

Hello, George. Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lucas, and I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Usually this issue happens when you have a Microsoft child account, create an Xbox profile using this child account but then change your Microsoft account birthdate.

Your Xbox profile birthdate cannot be changed. You can change your Microsoft account birthdate but it will not reflect on your Xbox profile.

Are you really 52 years old or are you a child that has a child account but then just changed your age to 52 to be able to play other games? This will not work.

Now if you really are an adult, never had a child account and is experiencing this issue, please let me know.

To change a child account privacy settings, you'll need to login to the parent account at https://account.microsoft.com

Select Manage my child's profile info.

For the child’s account that you want to change, select Edit this child's personal info and then follow the instructions.

If this still can't help you, just let me know.

Cant change my child accounts birthdate

Hello, Amanda_288. Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lucas. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Please try to change it using your parent account:

    - Using your Microsoft account, sign in to the Microsoft Family page (http://family.microsoft.com/).

    - Select Manage my child's profile info.

    - Select Edit this child's personal info and then follow the instructions.

Just keep in mind changing the Microsoft child account birthdate does not change the Xbox profile birthdate of the child.

Feel free to ask back any questions and please let me know how it goes.
