    "Change privacy settings to send messages." Notification spam Xbox companion app


    About once a day while I have the Xbox (Beta) app open I get an alert that reads "Change your privacy settings to send messages. Got to settings". I have my privacy settings deliberately set so that I cannot send or receive message through the Xbox (Beta)
    app. I do not use the messaging features in the Xbox app and therefore do not want to enable the privacy settings that enables messaging.

    It doesn't matter how many times I dismiss the alert, it always comes back.

    Is there a way to permanently block this kind of alert?

    I have attached a screenshot of the alert.

    What notification setting? Im pretty sure the xbox companion app is just busted
    Windows 10 notifications.

    Whenever I play Streaming mode in the app, the notification settings change to not be displayed.

    the best thing to do is to change your privacy setting to not allow anyone that is not on your friends list to send you a message. This will negate messages coming from spam bots.

    Xbox app is always broken with messages. Ms constantly disabled the notifications message feature with new versions. You have to re enable them. And I can’t message anyone since the newest update. It says privacy settings are not set to allow it. Go to Xbox.com
    and change them. Last week it was fine. Then a new update. Totally broke messages. A couple days later a new update. Fixed messaging. But now I can’t. I’ve never changed privacy settings. And I just looked and there is nothing to do with messaging. I’ve reinstalled
    the app. Please fix yer app ms!!!!

    Cant add friends on my Xbox or PC app

    Yeah I've tried the Xbox Game Bar app, if I try to send a message it says "Something went wrong, try again later" and if I try to add a friend it won't let me.

    When I try using the Xbox app on PC it won't even let me browse the community tab and everything I boot up it has a notification to change my Privacy settings even after I change them, reboot, logout, login.

    With the app on Android I get an error icon when I try to add a friend or send a message.

    If you're logged into a Windows 10 PC on the Xbox Companion App then Windows 10 should show you when messages are sent. If you open the app and click on Settings then Notifications you'll be able to set what you see from Xbox
