change name cost money to do?? thats just creazy

Name changes cost money there is no way arround it.

Unfortunately you cannot change it for free so changing it will cost you 800 Microsoft points, it's a shame you were hacked but I wouldn't change my name if I didn't have Microsoft points, because it does cost money and your name isn't massively offensive.

Was your gamertag changed automatically and costed money or do you want to change it but it cost money?

If it is because you want to change it but it cost money, It was your fault in the first place for violating Xbox's Terms of Service, Next time make sure to choose a more appropriate gamertag.

Its probably something to do with the reason they charge for a gamertag change.

Forget the cost for a moment. What I mean is that the cost controls someone create lots of alias's on a single account. Perhaps its the same with the unused name. Someone could have had a great reputation but for whatever reason no longer uses that account.
If someone could then use that same name because its no longer in use, then it could cause many problems for the original owner of the tag.

Thats just my assumption though.

You get the first change for free the second change is what costs money. I'm sorry it has to be that way but if everyone constantly changed their gamertag no names would be available
