Change Microsoft account from a child account to an adult account

Did this account graduate naturally from a child account to an adult account or was there a birthday change attempt? You can change the birthdate to the Microsoft account but it will not change the birthdate that was entered originally to the Xbox profile.

In other words, a child account will remain a child account until it graduates naturally to an adult account. No way around it.

1. Create another microsoft account and xbox account
2. Add the account with the problem as a child to the family
3. Change the setting from the "Adult" account
4. Then remove the "adult" account from the family

Its not possible to change from an organizer (adult account) to a member (child account). Whether the account is an adult account or child account is dependent on the date of birth entered when the account was first created. The date of birth on the Xbox
account cannot be changed either.

To turn off a child account on Xbox One, you need to have an adult Microsoft account. Here are the steps to do so:

Sign in to the Xbox One console with the child account you want to change.

Go to "Settings" > "Account" > "Family"

Select the child account you want to change.

Choose "Remove from family".

Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the change.

Once the account has been removed from the family, you can then change the account to an adult account by following the on-screen prompts to add an adult email and password.

Note: You may need to have access to the email associated with the child account to complete these steps.
