Hello SamDelaney2, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

The best option for you here would be to create your new email address (use an incognito window to do this) then log in to https://account.microsoft.com with your regular account. Add the new email address and set it as the primary address.

Do not remove the old email and leave it as the secondary. That way it will remain for your parents and a possible backup for you if you forget your login at a future time.

If you are using a Microsoft email address for your account (outlook.com, live.com, hotmail.com etc) you can't change as you would lose everything else associated with that account and it deletes forever. If you are using non Microsoft email addresses,
you can change the email address associated with your account for his.

I'll add a little warning, you risk losing your Microsoft account if the current primary email address is one created via a Microsoft service like @live.com @hotmail.com outlook etc by changing emails.
