    CEC Potential Features for Consideration


    We want to know what Device Control features you may want next on your console! The Device Control (HDMI CEC) feature on your Xbox allows partial control of devices connected to your Xbox via HDMI. For example, you can turn your TV on by pressing the Xbox button on your controller, eliminating the need to reach for your TV remote to turn on your TV. To start the discussion we put some potential features as comments. Feel free to upvote your favorites or add your own!

    Something else to check out is if your tv has a feature called CEC, it may be called something else on your TV. Heres a link with more information regarding CEC ( Consumer Electronics Control )

    If your tv does have this feature then try turning it off please.

    For this is easier to know, as you could use the CEC feature of the Xbox on a different device, if it works, it should also work on this also

    Also, according to the manufacturer, your device could need an update to properly work with the CEC feature

    Thendercleetz, HDMI-CEC support doesn't have to be an 'all or nothing' feature. If given the proper configuration settings, Kinect IR blaster and HDMI-CEC could work in tandem quite well. As you say most cable boxes don't support this feature, so they would
    be continued to controlled by the Kinect, the rest by HDMI-CEC (with the ability to turn this on/off). As for the Power On/Off, HDMI-CEC is a two-way communication if you turn the Xbox on and the TV and AVR are both already powered on it's checks that and
    does nothing. For powering off, we would need to be given an additional option (just as PS4 does). 'Power off console only', and 'Power off all components'.

    How does TV work with voice.

    You can control your Set Top Box (STB) if it supports HDMI-CEC. You maybe able to control your TV, but again it needs to support HDMI-CEC.

    Some STBs do not feature HDMI-CEC protocol (e.g. Sky HD STB), which means it can't be controlled via Xbox One. You need a Sky remote.

    HDMI-CEC is supported only on Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. You must also enable HDMI-CEC on your TV.

    Xbox Series X|S consoles can use an HDMI feature called Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) to send commands to and from CEC-enabled devices (such as TVs and AVRs) that are connected to the console.

    This feature can be turned on and off via the TV & A/V power options settings screen. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, then go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Sleep mode & startup > TV & A/V power options.
