    Capturing Far Cry 6 footage on Series X is dropping frames like crazy, help?


    Hello.

    Just as the title says. No frames are been dropped while playing the game, gameplay is really smooth, but captured footage comes really bad with plenty of frames dropped. Footage captured from other games like Far Cry 5 is perfectly fine.

    Capture settings are set to 720p SDR on internal storage. I am capturing the last 2 minutes via the Share button, I am not even capturing in 1080p.

    Thinking there was something wrong I reset the Series X yesterday and installed everything from scratch erasing all contents but still the captured footage from Far Cry 6 is still coming up terrible.

    Look at this example. Please don’t pay atención to the tactics, just focus on the multiple frames been dropped several places on this clip:

    Any ideas on why this is happening and how to solve it?

    Hi, yes. This is why it say that this can be a bit odd
    But don’t worry, it’s okay if you don’t want to try that, we can skip that

    As you already tried factory resetting the console and deleting the content I can advise you one more thing, this is perform an offline update for your console.
    In that way Xbox system will be installed from scratch. (Is not the same as the regular factory reset)

    For this you need a USB and PC to format it and transfer files provided in the link below (with detailed steps and requirement's):

    If maybe that doesn’t work the best option now is report this problem to both Ubisoft and Xbox team

    - All games are installed in the internal SSD, and there’s plenty of space there yet.

    - The only game I have found the Xbox is struggling with dripping frames on the captured footage is Far Cary 6. It is worth mentioning that this game is much more system taxing than Far Cry 5 or other games I play like FIFA and where capturing footage doesn’t give the same dropped frames.

    - I have no external disks or other accessories connected to the Series X.

    - No insiders build, I am on the latest public software update on the Xbox.

    - Haven’t tried anything else. I have noticed the problem several times in the past months capturing From just this game, then yesterday decided to wipe out the Xbox. It is the strongest of measures that I know of.

    That’s odd, may I know if you have this game installed on the internal storage?
    If not, please move it to the internal storage, disconnect all the USB accessories and give it a new try

    If that is not your case please tell me:
    Is this happening only with far cry 5 or if you with a different game something similar happens?
    Are you using an insider build / beta OS in your console?
    And besides the full reset, did you tried something else?

    Hi, thank you. And my bad! I just realized that I typed a “5” and not a “6”

    This can be a bit odd, but what about:
    A. connecting the console to another HDMI port in your TV?
    B. Use a different HDMI cable
    C. Change your audio output settings, for example. If you’re using 5.1 uncompressed, change it to stereo uncompressed and test with each audio option

    Hi, no problem.

    a) I don’t see how connecting the console to another HDMI port or to another display device can help. This is internal capturing and the video is not taken from the video output. Is is processed internally in the Series X. And if there was a problem with my external setup this will surely impact all captures, something that isn’t happening. It is just Far Cry 6 captures the Xbox is struggling with.

    b) Same as A

    c) Using the old plain and simple stereo uncompressed here, I don’t have any other option to use

    My belief is that the Xbox is struggling capturing from this game in particular as older games that are less demanding are not showing any problems.
