    Can't use Xbox funds to buy a game?


    Hi guys,

    So I've been trying to buy Portal: Still Alive on the Xbox marketplace using funds I got from Xbox live rewards. I have $20 on the account and there is no option to use it to buy the game, it will only let me use a credit card. How can I buy it using using
    the $20 I have?

    Please help

    If you've redeemed a gift card then you can use the funds to buy any digital content from the store.

    You can't use currency in your account to by xbox live.

    I cannot download games off Xbox.com/Xbox Live store on my Xbox 360 console with Microsoft Account funds.

    Well, I tried it from my Xbox too but it's the same exact thing. I can't use my MSA funds to buy it.

    Hi JiR95,

    Currency/Microsoft Account Balances can only be used on a game's respective consoles. This means that since you are trying to buy an Xbox 360 game from an Xbox One, you won't be able to. In order to use your account funds, you can only purchase Xbox 360
    games from an Xbox 360 or Xbox One titles from an Xbox One. Also, the backwards compatible titles are sold using a webface that is similar to the Xbox.com site meaning you will only be able to purchase games with a Credit/Debit card or PayPal account.

    You can't buy a gift card with a gift card. You would use the funds to buy something through Xbox/Microsoft.

    you can't transfer funds to different regions, so if you can't use the balance use, as long as you have address uses, to buy a digital game

    Also, bear in mind that to use funds from an Xbox gift card to buy the game, he would need to do so on a 360 console. If he's using an Xbox One he would not be able to purchase that game using funds.
