If you are a Game Pass PC/Ultimate owner, there was a bug preventing you from accessing Minecraft Java edition

Please make sure to install the Minecraft launcher on your primary hard drive and not on any secondary or external hard drives.

so xbox minecraft code cant be used to redeem java minecraft?

Have you tried to install the launcher through the Xbox app, Microsoft Store or download directly from the Mojang website?

There is also an issue on the Xbox network that is preventing users from opening their games on all platforms.

Are you in the enrolled in the Minecraft insider beta? If so you will need to opt out of it and re-download the game to be able to use Realms and Multiplayer.
