cant update windows

i get the error in about 73% instalation in normal windows update, when i try to run Windows10Upgrade9252 i get the error

can't create the files. please check if you have permission to write to the installation folder

I tried everything - still couldn't update to 1903. I tried the Easus Backup method - no go. Ultimately MS was telling me my hardware wasn't yet ready for the update.

I did a completely clean install on a different drive and presto - 1903 update worked. However Easus Backup wants paid sub to allow transferring of system as it thinks this as a different PC.

So for now I'm switching between boots. I just wanted to try out Game Pass (which demands 1903)… so far the experience has been rubbish- but I'll post more on that in a relevant thread.

it seems too much ordeal for just using gamepass, too much to improve for microsoft when one can install and run steam in less 5 minutes.

Hi, have you tried upgrading to 1903 using the following page:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

and click update now, let the update assistant run and see if that brings up what the exact upgrade issues are.
