can't unmute headset

Hi Guys.. and thanks in advance of course for anyone taking the time to read this.

My problem: I can't get my headset to work through the remote.. it has worked in the past but now won't through either controller. the mute icon displays on the tv screen. I've tried different headsets and nothing helps.. i'm assuming its something
to do with the controllers (as they both do it) or something in the settings somewhere ???

I've tried everything, restarted the console, looked for updates, basically i'm out of ideas so am at your mercy.

Any ideas would be appreciated

System is an XBox one X and headset is RIG 400..

Xbox One Headset isn't working

After the update I can't use my headset, any of my friends can hear me and they said that they hear a lot of noise if I unmute my headset.

have you checked your privacy and safety settings? Xbox One online safety and privacy settings

 

thanks for the reply Denis.. I've had a look through the privacy but can't find anything that relates to the headset/controller.. it is set to 'adult' though

 

If it's this option.. it's set to friends already, not blocked

Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites
Decide who to communicate with on Xbox Live using voice and text and also who sends you invitations to parties or clubs

This setting is about who you want to communicate with. To block or allow communications on a console, check the online safety settings in the other tabs.
