Can't unmute friend

out of the blue a friend on mine show up muted in all my party chats, I have removed my account from my xbox one, I tried removing my friend and added that account back and doesn't work.

How can I fix this?

Muted Friend - Can't Unmute

So I muted my friend on Xbox Live as a joke because he was blaring music. I muted him through the Xbox profile in the party chat, not through game chat, and at first it did not work. However, once I played with him the next day, it suddenly had him muted
and now I cannot talk to him at all. I've tried going through his profile and unmuting him from there, but nothing works. I also tried restarting my Xbox, but it still does not work. I can hear my other friend in the same party just fine. Help?

exactly what happened to me I spammed unmute and stopped and at one point it was muting and unmuting without me pushing so i feel like it's an extremely delayed bug

 

You can't unfortunately. It's an XBL glitch. They are supposedly working on a fix, but it's been several days now that this problem has been going on. We should all be getting some extra XBL days on our subscriptions for this, though I don't see that happening.

This was an issue being looked into by the engineers but should be resolved at this time.

If you are still running into issues be sure to power down the console, unplug it for 5 minutes, then power it back on and check again.
