Can't unmute certain friends

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue since creating that child account.

I split your post from it's previous thread so that it could get appropriate attention needed for resolution of your issue.

It would seem like you need to probably change your privacy and online safety settings from a parent account.

See if you can log into the parent account then go to Settings> Account> Family and change the settings for communication and multiplayer.

This was an issue being looked into by the engineers but should be resolved at this time.

If you are still running into issues be sure to power down the console, unplug it for 5 minutes, then power it back on and check again.

You can't unfortunately. It's an XBL glitch. They are supposedly working on a fix, but it's been several days now that this problem has been going on. We should all be getting some extra XBL days on our subscriptions for this, though I don't see that happening.

If you are still seeing this happen let's try a cold boot of the console by unplugging it for a full 5 minutes. If you are still can not unmute your friend then you will want to try a

factory reset of the console. Please be sure to keep your games and apps installed when asked to do so if you need to take that step.
