Can’t sign in when playing on backwards compatible games

Hello Charlie,

Please, change the Port Selection on the connection settings, from automatic to manual.

Go to Profile and System > Settings > General > Network Settings > Advanced Settings> Alternate Port Selection > Manual > Choose any from the Menu starting with a 4 or 5 (Example: 49215 or 57165).

Let's make sure your account security information is updated:

Sign in to your Microsoft account: https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional">https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional

Verify that your security information is correct and up to date (image), I also recommend turning on the 2-step verification, in case you are not using it, it will be needed for the next step.



Now, let's create an Application Password if you don't have one.

On this same page: https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional

Scroll down to Application Passwords and click on Create a New Application Password

Take note of this password and use it to log in to your account when using retro-compatible games.



Then, on your console, let's clear the Xbox 360 cache data.

Press the Xbox Guide Button > Settings > System > Storage Devices > Clear local Xbox 360 storage > Yes.

Restart your console.

Afterward, launch the game and attempt to login again.

I’m still running into the same problem. If I try to sign in, it says to download my profile, which it then gives me the exact same message before I can even put in an email to the account.

Hello Gamer! Backwards compatibility means the version before the current which for example if an Xbox 1 game is backwards compatible it can be played with Xbox 1 and Xbox 360. Which means a backwards compatible game for the Xbox 360 can’t be played with
an Xbox 1.

Hello, As long as the 360 game is backwards compatible you will be able to play it through the One console. When you try to play the 360 backwards compatible game it will sign your system in the 360 servers and you'll be able to play that game.
