Cant set my console as a home one

Hi there,

I bought used xox console produced November 2018. I can't set it as a home console. It says I have 5 switches but every time I try to set it as home console message says "Cant connect with the service, please try again later". Well, I'm connected to the
internet, playing games on my account, etc. This is my first console but i'm really unable to set it as home console.

I realized after some time that this console was under insider program (previous seller forgot to turn it off). I installed insider app on my xbox and unsubscribed downloading original software/firmware. But again, 5 switches available and I cant set it
to home console. Is there possibility that previous user used all ? But if so, why i do see that I have 5 available and why I'm getting this strange error "service unavailable" ?

Thank you both, i'll give it a try. Btw the software on my console is 10.0.18362.3055 (19h1_release_xbox_dev_1905.190510-1845). Is this insider software? Does the 'unable to set home console' issue has anything to do with insider software in my case? Or
is it the last stable software i have? (i dont want insider but dont know the numbers of non insider and insider version).

This is the current general release for Xbox One. The insider build does not remove the ability to change your home console.

Hello Piot,

Thanks for coming to the forums with your questions. As Parity mentioned a power cycle may fix the issue. As for your other questions, the previous owners switches do not count in this instance. We recommend also to test both your network and multiplayer
connection. If you can try connecting with a ethernet cable to change the setting.

Also try
removing and reinstall your profile this sometimes is the issue.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

BTW, the switches are tied to the user not the console. If you are logged in on your account that is the one it is looking at.

Xbox support to extend the amount of times you can change your home settings, which can be found here
