Can't send friend requests

I'm new to xbox but recently set up xbox live on my computer. Then I downloaded my profile on the xbox but can not send friend requests as the screen says 'Can't complete the process, please try later'.

Privacy setting allow friends request and I am able to accept mail and friend requests but can not send them.

The online live status is all up and running.

Any help would be hugely appreciated

That's odd that you're unable to add friends. Are you able to receive friend requests from others by chance?

Could you try and Try another xbox live account to see if you are having the same Issue. So I know if its your profile or console

Sorry to hear about this issue you are experiencing. Are you set up with a child account but given extra permissions from the adult on the account? Are you able to join multiplayer games on Live?
