Can’t seem to play Black Ops 3

We understand that you are trying to play Call of Duty Black Ops III and is unable to because of the installation issue and error code 0x803f8001. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner for you to get back to gaming.

Since you are installing a game on Xbox One S, we would like to let you know that only digital purchases will work on Xbox One S All Digital Edition and Xbox Series S. That means your disk version of Call of Duty Black Ops III will not work to your console unless you have a digital license of the game.

Should you have Xbox console with disc drive you may use the disk game as you will have to insert your disk game to the console to install update of the game.

As per support article: Error 0x803F8001 occurs when you launch an Xbox game or app | Xbox Support, your disk is required to install or launch the game. The other solution is to make sure that the game is still available through game pass subscription. If a game is no longer on the list, then you can no longer play it with your subscription.

I don’t have an All-Digital Xbox One S, I own the normal version, i also bought this game back in 2017-2018 and played it a lot, I didn’t get it off of game-pass.

I own the 80 dollar “Zombie Chronicles” disk version of the game, so I’m really not interested in spending another 80 dollars just so i can play my already installed game.

It’s also telling me to update the game, which i personally think is what makes it fail, since I don’t have the game installed, there’s really no game to update.

I also can’t go to the “delete all cache alternative because I lost my USB with my Xbox progress a week ago and the console is the only thing with my progress left (It’s probably around 2 years worth of progress).

My opinion(and I loved Black Ops),Black Ops 2 feels like a more polished Black Ops. Just me it seems, but the gameplay seems to play a little faster and the lag actually feels like it's improved from Black Ops.

i just love how black ops has KSR's but they dont seem outta control like MW2 and 3. black ops has always felt to me like gun vs. gun. and thats how a FPS should play

Was playing Black Ops 3 last night and 1 story acheivement didn't pop. Checked progress and it was there unlocked. Seems to be a bit hit and miss at the mo.
