Can't run BC 360 game on Xbox Series X

The Xbox One can't read and run the data directly from BC 360 game discs. The games don't run from the discs like they would on a 360 console.

When Microsoft made these games BC, it took the original games, and without getting into all the technical details, reverse engineered and repackaged them as a digital downloads so that the Xbox One can play them. This is why as Smwutches as already stated,
there is an 'Update' when you insert a BC disc 360 game into your console. This isn't an update, it's actually the digital version of the game.

This is why your 360 game 'updates' are around the 8-16 GB sizes. Still comparatively small compared to the average Xbox One digital game download.

The BC system for 360 games on the Series X will have to work the same as there is no other way to do it.

However, the Series X is architecturally similar to the Xbox One, so Xbox One games will install and play on Series X just as they do an on an Xbox One console.

It will be backward compatible on Xbox Series X, pretty sure of it

The team is working on full BC on the next gen console

If you're expecting 'Full BC' on the Series X you're going to be disappointed. The Series X is set to run pretty much all Xbox One games and only the games from the Xbox 360 and original that have already been made BC.

To get full BC would require a full software emulator, that's unlikely to happen.

The simple answer to that question is no. The reason is a technical one.

Unlike Xbox One games running on Series X, the Xbox 360 used different hardware. Because the hardware was so different the BC team had to convert and repackage Xbox the Xbox 360 games that were added to the BC list, they can't be run natively from their
original discs or run the original digital downloaded versions like Xbox One games can.

Converting Xbox 360 games to run on Xbox One or Series X/S hardware takes a considerable amount of time and each game had to be tested. This is main reason why there is only a limited selection of Xbox 360 games available for the Xbox One and Series X/S
consoles.

The BC program for Xbox 360 and original Xbox One has been suspended. There have been no announcements from Microsoft of if or when it will be restarted. It may never be restarted.

Even if it does, the other problem is licenses. Most sports games including car racing have extensive licensing agreements with third parties. In the case of the NFS games these licenses will be for the cars in the game and any licensed in-game music. Much
of which will have expired.

completely incorrect, they have suspended BC while they concentrate on the series x, all the 360 and og games are run in an emulator wrap, it is all software not hardware, the series x will be no different, it will also use and emulator to run the games,

All Xbox One games with the exception of the Kinect titles work on Series X. In fact, they don't just work, they actually run better, with smoother frame rates.

From a console gaming perspective, this kind of BC is pretty ground-breaking. It means that essentially the Series X is actually 'forward compatible', not really backwards compatible. It also means that right from the moment you turn it on, it can run over 2,000 tiles.

The original Xbox and the 360 are totally different hardware architecture. To make these games BC Microsoft's BC team had to take each game and manually reverse engineer and recompile them to run on the Xbox One architecture. This isn't a quick process and is the main reason only around 577 Xbox 360 and 44 titles from the original Xbox run on both the Xbox one and Series X consoles.
