Can't put a phone number on my account?

so awhile back I deleted the correct phone number on my 2fa instead of the phone number that needed to be deleted. the phone number that needed to be deleted has an extra digit so i can't even send the code to that number to get the code. so now when i try to log into my account i can't get the code to change my password. since i have 2fa the account recovery form won't work. is there any way for the correct phone number to be put back on the account.

When you first initially setup 2fa it would have given you several backup codes and told you to save them in a safe place.

When it asks for the code being sent to your phone number you can enter in one of those backup codes instead.

If you didnt save said backup codes then the account will be unrecoverable.

This info did help for the most part. Before the 30 day wait period was activated i had to either put in an email or a phone number. I chose the phone number. So will microsoft delete all my account info except for the phone number or will the phone number
be added to the account when the 30 days are up?

I have also experienced the same issue before. In this case, you'll need to use a different/new phone number from your own number that has not been associated to any Microsoft account yet.

Also, avoid VoIP phone numbers: If you were using a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone number previously, consider switching to a traditional mobile or landline number. Sometimes, VoIP numbers may not be recognized or accepted during the verification process.

Choose the call option: During the verification process, you have the choice between receiving a text message or a phone call for the verification code. If the text message option is not working, select the call option and enter your home phone number.
