Cant play resident evil 7

I just bought the game for the xbox series x, first ever time i am playing the game, and I start it up and get a screen that says, " No saved data exists. You must create save data in order to save your game and you cannot start a game without save data. Create save data?" and it gives me a yes or no option, I cannot select either options, nor does any button on my remote work while i am in the game. Have spent about two hours now searching for posts and fixes about this, but have not come up with anything, have restarted my console and reinstalled the game. Is there any fix, where i can make a save data outside of the game, or just fix the screen that is in game, and get me out of my controller not working????

We understand that you are playing Resident Evil 7 when you were prompted to save data, but options are unselectable. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner for you to get back to gaming.

We found a way to save your data, and this may be relevant for you the next time you open the game. However, if Yes and No options are unselectable you will have to redo your game and you may need to reach out the game support for that. For now, please read this support articles for information:

You can use the tape recorders placed throughout the game to select a specific save slot and manually save your progress.
From the main menu, select LOAD GAME, and then select a save slot to resume playing from the spot where you saved.
Note: In Madhouse mode, each save consumes a Cassette Tape.
