    So I bought the game DayZ a long time ago. About 5 months ago I was gifted game pass ultimate by code. I haven't paid for it. Now everytime I try joining a server it says "Renew Your Gamepass" to play. I own the game outright why Do I have to Renew gamepass to play it. This is frustrating. If I knew this would happen I never would've redeemed gamepass ultimate. I never paid for game pass and I dont plan to pay for it. This is a cause for the trouble. I can't play one of my favorite games because of this gamepass glitch or whatever it is. I OWN THE GAME, I do not need gamepass to play it. Current status: Unable to play due to not paying for gamepass, nor did I download it from gamepass. What's the fix to this, This isnt fair.

    Makes sense, so they removed Gold Subscriptions in place for Gamepass Core and Ultimate. I spoke with my friend briefly about this change that occurred so it makes more sense to me now, I appreciate your help have a good night.

    I never needed gamepass to play it. I've always played it before I redeemed a free gamepass code my friend gave me. I have xbox live.

    You may have had Gold before which has been removed and replaced with Game Pass Core.

    It's an online game so you need Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate (which includes Core) in order to be able to play it.

    If you can't play online due to parental or region restrictions then no one here can do anything about that.

    If there are no restrictions on your account then you'd need a gamepass core or ultimate subscription to play online unless it's a free to play game.
