    I installed battlefield 5 yesterday on game pass and it took awhile so i decided ill play it tomorrow i played single player just fine however when i went to play multiplayer with my friend that installed it the same way it wouldn't let me play and it
    said that i needed to upgrade my game and that i was on a trail version.

    So when my game pass subscription ends next week I won’t need to update to Xbox live/gold to continue to play eg Battlefield 5 on multiplayer? If that’s the case, brilliant.
    you will need gold to play battlefield 5 as that is not a free to play game.

    also if you have a lot of games with gold games they will not work once your sub ends.
