Can't play minecraft on 2 devices even though i have now purchased 5 version of the game

I am wanting to play minecraft with my son on line. He plays on Xbox One and i play on PC.

I bought the original game for Xbox 360, and then the Xbox One version, which i have discs for, and then downloaded the non-Xbox One version, purchased the Java version for PC from Mojang and then bought the Windows 10 version from the MS store. Even after
all that, when we try and play together, if my son logs on first, he gets kicked when i log on, and vice versa. It shouldn't be this difficult, or expensive for that matter, to play any game.

I'm also a Games Pass Ultimate subscriber. If there was ever a reason to consider a PS5 over an Xbox Series X this is leading me to it.

I realise this is something to do with accounts and settings but it shouldn't be this difficult to set it up, or if it is, it shouldn't be this hard to find informstion on how to solve it.

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are experiencing difficulties with being able to have a multiplayer session on Minecraft.

Did you purchase this game on your account? You cannot be signed into the same account on an Xbox One platform, or PC at once.

Additionally, If you owned the Xbox One Edition of Minecraft, you should have been able to new version, at no additional costs. Keep in mind that the Java Edition of Minecraft and the Windows 10 Edition are unable to establish a multiplayer session togeather.

If you purchased this game on your account, then you must configure your sons' console as your

Home Xbox. This will give anyone on that console the ability to play any digital games you own, plus have access to your subscription benefits.

Once this is done, he will need to be signed into a separate account, and you should be able to join a session togeather.

I hope this was able to clarify any confusion this might have caused.

Also having exact same problem.

Apparently can no longer play minecraft without repurchasing it through game pass (which I've never once used), even though I purchased "Xbox One Edition" waaaaaaaay back when that was the version of minecraft we got. Have been playing the "new" version
that's just "Minecraft" ever since and now can no longer unless I rebuy through game pass?

Microsoft fix your stuff. This is ridiculous.

No, if you purchase a Minecraft texture pack on the Bedrock version of the game for mobile devices, it will not transfer to your PlayStation 5 version of the game. Minecraft Bedrock and Minecraft on PlayStation 5 are separate versions of the game and are not cross-compatible in terms of purchases made through their respective digital marketplaces. You would need to purchase the texture pack separately on the PlayStation Store for it to be available on your PlayStation 5 version of the game.

I'm having the same issue so now I can't install forza horizon 2. I changed my gamertag after I bought the game. I see an icon that says pre purchased but there is a queue of 5 that won't download even though the stuff for FH2 is only 4 downloads.

I think Episode 5 will take a back seat for now. Minecraft Story Mode is out and I'm going to get it since I've seen several of my friends play it. I will be getting the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft Story Mode, as most of my friends don't have an Xbox 1
console. I play Life IS Strange on Xbox 1 though I liked episodes 1-4. I didn't even know Halo 5 has released until I saw 2 friends playing it. I thought it would come out next month. I'll get Halo 5 tomorrow.
