Can’t play LotR Return of the King 4K. Error code 0x91d70001

Hi all. As the title says, I cannot get my 4K copy of Return of the King (theatrical) to play, each time it gives the same error message.

Every other disc in this box set works perfectly (including the extended edition of the same film), it is just this one.

This is the first time I have used the disc. It has no damage, wear, or imperfections.

It has been too long since I bought it for a replacement, refund, or return.

I have tried reinstalling the Blu ray app, a hard reset of the console, deleting persistent storage, and the HDMI trick I’ve read on a few forums about this error message but nothing is working.

Is there anything else I haven’t tried or can do?

As the other disks work, you almost certainly have a bad disc. Contact Warner Bros. customer service and they may be able to give you a replacement, other than that I suggest only ever watching the extended edition

Not a game capture, no. I do have an HDMI splitter so I can get an optical output for audio, but all my other 4K discs function with that no problem so I can’t see that being the cause.

I appreciate you letting me know. Would it be okay for you to disable/remove it in the meantime just to test it out?

Do you have a game capture connected to your Xbox? If yes, you may need to disconnect it as it may be the issue why you're getting the error.
