    So I’ve had this seagate one touch HDD USB hard drive for a while now, and all of a sudden I cannot access any of my games that were downloaded on it. I’ll select one of them, and I’ll get a message saying “There was a problem launching your game or app. Error code 0x87e1000c).” I’ve never had this problem before, don’t know what triggered it. And i really don’t want to uninstall and reinstall all my games that I payed for just to play them again. Again, the external drive has worked just fine (for a couple of years actually since I bought it). Everything on the internal drive is still playable. So far, I’ve restarted my Xbox, hard reset my Xbox, unplugged it from the wall and left it unplugged for a bit, switched the USB my external drive was plugged into, unplugged the drive for a bit from the main console, and a combination of all these things multiple times in different orders. I don’t know if my drive is corrupted or what, but some advice would be much appreciated on this matter!

    External hard drive not working

    Hi,

    External hard drives are not fast enough for Xbox Series X|S titles. Unfortunately you can't play these games off slow USB external hard drives. They need either be installed internally or to an optional Xbox Series X|S Expansion card.

    Get a PS5, problem solved. you can play games on external sdd no problems attached
    You cannot store or play PS5 games from an external drive. At least with the Series X/S consoles, you can store the Series X/S games to external drives. You just have to move them to internal storage to play them. You can play PS4 games from an external drive hooked up to a PS5 though, just like you can play Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games from an external drive connected to a Series X/S.

    Yes but cant install xbox series x games, they have to be installed on the ssd. All others games will and can run off of external drive

    Games can be stored on external drives. No need to keep redownloading anything. Store Series X/S games on external drive and then transfer to internal drive when wanting to play.

    Yep.

    Just plug the external drive into the series s or x & you're good to go.

    If you want to play any games that have series s/x enhancements then that game would need to be stored on the internal drive or the external ssd you can buy.
