Cant play free games which I have downloaded it says I need Xbox live pass?

I recently bought an Xbox for my son and he has a couple of the free games downloaded, Roblox etc. He went to play yesterday and he cant seem to play these games they all say he needs an Xbox live subscription? Any ideas? I've already tried a reboot / restore
set up etc but it's still the same.

All help greatly appreciated.

If someone else has been using the same console and has it set as their Home console and they had Gold, he could have had access that way.

Even though some games are free, if they have online multiplayer they still require a Gold subscription. It's noted on the game page before you download it.

Games like Roblox are online only games. In order to play online, a Gold subscription is required.

Yes. They could have left the console as their Home and their subscription either expired/cancelled or they changed their Home.

Hmmm...I see.

I bought it from a store but it was refurbished and had a previous owner etc. So it could be the case that the previous owner had an annual pass that just recently expired?!

Thanks for the response but that doesnt make sense as he has being playing them for months without one?

I also chatted to a gaming agent who said they are from the free store so shouldn't require one?!
