Cant play any game

i just tried everything you said and still no dice :| games just wont work at all basically got a bricked xbox now that wont play games and i dont even know the cause oddly enough i can still play some original xbox games and watch netflix and stuff but
any physical xbox 360 games are a no go all it says is open tray for any xbox360 game

Not all things are obvious.

Go into your memory, manually delete all the system update info, delete your profile, and only the profile not items. Then clear your cache, then recover your gamertag and redo any updates it gives you.

okay well without trying to sound like a jerk i'm just going to politely say that i have done all of the obvious things i'm quite experienced with most things electronic i know about the whole clean your disc and all that. i can disassemble and put a laptop
back together easily so i know the basic stuff like clean the disc lol but sadly its not as simple as that i wish it was. :| i've done pretty much everything the funny thing is it will play old xbox games like star wars battlefront which makes me think there
is something wrong with the update on not letting me play newer games i just found that i can play old xbox games on it but no dvds or xbox 360 games

Hopefully you haven't sent the console in yet, because the first thing you should try is the
Disc Drive Solution if you haven't already. I assume if you contacted Xbox Phone or Chat support they ran through these steps with you as well.

Thank you for your input memek krk, however it seems this issue must be handled by someone who will actually resolve the issue.

Now, Shock x Insane, do the discs have any scratches or marks? If so that may be the problem. If you get some car cleaner (the stuff you clean scratches with), and put a little bit on a soft rag, and rub it onto the disc, it may resolve most of your problems.
If it does not, I'm afraid your disc drive's laser may be failing. You will have to, if the Xbox is still in warranty, send it in for repair. I believe they pay for postage, costs, etc, however this may not apply still.
