Can't log in to my Xbox account on the PC app. Tried every fix I could find so far

Hello,

I am at my wits end trying to simply login to my Xbox account on the pc app for the new Forza game with no avail. The issue is on the Xbox app, when I press sign in the little sign in window pops up for a quarter second than disappears, reloading the Xbox page as if it automatically logged in but leaves me logged out. The only game that gives me access is the Microsoft Solitaire Collection.

I am able to log in to my Xbox account no problem through the browser, and have no issue logging in to the Microsoft store with the same account/email. My computer login is also tied to the same email. It's almost as if it tries to get the login information when I press sign in, finds some information but doesn't like the outcome and ends up doing nothing.

I've tried every login fix I could find online, including various admin Power shell line commands.

- My Windows 10 is fully updated

- Ran Windows update troubleshooter

- Reinstalled all Xbox programs

- Logged out of Microsoft Store, then tried logging into Xbox app

- Cleared cache on Microsoft Store

- Restarted all Xbox services through windows

- Reset Xbox account data

- Deleted Xbox files that store temporary account info (C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\TokenBroker)

- Tried logging in through other Xbox app programs such as the console companion, as well as the only game available to me solitaire. Every option briefly tries to load the login page, but then reloads the existing page leaving me logged out.

- Turned off all firewall programs while troubleshooting

- Tried to create new account/sign up for game pass through Xbox app, which causes the window to briefly pop up and than disappear.

- Tried downloading the Xbox app fresh from browser instead of the Microsoft store.

I have never had so many technical faults/connection issues with any program as much as the Microsoft store and Xbox app; all started with Forza Horizon 3 back in 2016.

Any help would be appreciated. It worked in the past but on this same PC but now it doesn't.

Good evening everyone I have exactly the same problem for 2 days impossible to connect

it opens the small gray window to me then it closes several times and returns to the library I try all the solutions proposed

but none works if a person could help me it would be with the greatest pleasure thank you cordially.

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I turned off malware bytes as that is my only defense.

After the cmd scan when I try to log in the window pops up for a whole second now but shows nothing and then disappears. Some progress I suppose.

Was really hoping to avoid installing windows again but thank you.

I doubt installing it from a 3rd party would make any difference as it's still the same software, just from elsewhere...and installing from a 3rd party increases the risk of more adverse issues.

From reading that thread, it seems that editing the Registry would be the next step....however, if you are not confident in registry editing, I wouldn't attempt it (personally, I wouldn't go near Registry editing at all and I am fairly confident around computers)

Malwarebytes shouldn't affect things...however, I would uninstall it rather than just disabling it to be sure (some AV programs still cause issues even when disabled)...you are still covered by Windows Defender for anti-virus (assuming you have it turned on)

I agree that reinstalling Windows is far from ideal...however, to ascertain if it's a Windows issue, a 3rd party software issue or an account issue, you need a completely clean and fresh install of Windows to work from. Having said that, I had issues with Windows Updates not installing last year and it took me 3 months to reinstall Windows as I really didn't want to!! So I do understand the reluctance

The solution is to install the xbox app from an unknown source? I've tried all the resetting and installing that they spoke of in that thread but not installing from a 3rd party site.
