Can't log in to my account on Windows Xbox app

The screenshot is basically saying that "see what's your friends up to" and tells to log in or create an account. The problem is, I can't click the log in button as it's greyed out.

So when I was attempting to log into the xbox app, it was saying that I couldn't sign in.

But, what I realized is the windows account I was logged into was not the same account. So I created a windows account with my xbox email and when I logged in, it immediately came up with the xbox console companion instead of the old xbox app and I was logged in!

So it was the windows account being a different email that was causing that issue. So I have everything fixed now!

I don't get any option. It's a new machine I just started setting up yesterday with minimal software installed and only one user. The only thing I can think of is the windows account is the parent account for the Xbox Family account that the Xbox account I want falls under. I finally managed to get it to sort of work with windows account logged in for the Xbox app and the Gamer Pass account logged into the Microsoft Store app. It's weird I can't do anything else and that this even works since on the Xbox, that account has to be logged into on the Xbox system to use GP.

I created an admin Windows user account, mapped it to my Microsoft account, and then logged into the xbox app like normal.
