Cant log in to microsoft on apps but can with online browser?

i can log in fine with the internet browser.

doesnt let me log in keeps asking for password or code over and over again even after iv typed them its, its like a never ending loop. i have no access to any Microsoft apps on the laptop (acer under 2 years old)

iv reset apps like iv seen on another question about this on Microsoft and done almost everything else iv read.

it also effects the xbox app and again i can log in fine when using the internet browser , the xbox app bring up text saying

"sorry, something went wrong. try again in a little while (0x800040005"

my next option is a factory rest and i really dont want to have to do that.

i know nothing about pc's and im so scared to tinker with the wrong settings and make the laptop stop working all together.

Hi, Frankie! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble signing in to your account on the Xbox App. No worries, I'm happy to assist you with this today.

Please try to follow these steps. Make sure to close any games and applications before proceeding.

Make sure that Passwordless Account and Two-step verification are not enabled here.

Update your password here.

Sign in here using the new password.

https://www.xbox.com/en-US/

Then, press Windows Key + R to open Run

Type "control.exe keymgr.dll" and hit Enter. This should open Credential Manager

Click "Windows Credentials."

Scroll down to "Generic Credentials" and look for every single one that starts with "Xbl". This includes XblGrts, Xbl| and Xbl_Ticket.

Then remove them all one by one.

Open the Microsoft Store by pressing Windows Key + S, typing Microsoft Store, and selecting App Settings.

Click on Repair and then Reset the app.

Repeat the same process for the Xbox App and Forza Horizon 5 Game

Restart Your Device:

After repairing and resetting both apps, restart your device.

Sign back into both the Xbox App and the Microsoft Store using the same email.

Please try to create a local account. Press and hold the Windows key, then press R

Type netplwiz in the box, then click OK

Select Add

Select Sign in WITHOUT a Microsoft account

Select Local account

Enter a username, password, and password hint

Click Next

Click Finish

Once done, please press the Windows Key + L, then sign in using the local account.

Sign in using your Microsoft account on the Xbox App and Microsoft Store App.

Then, see if that will fix the issue. Thanks!

yes this has worked BUT!!!!!!!!!! its just a whole new profile hasn't solved the issue just added a new account also it now says "can not download on this pc" so i cant actually play any games now?

again still having the same issue with not being able to log in to any microsoft app on main account.

second account, just made like you said, can log in to microsoft apps but cant download games anymore?

At this point would a factory reset be best? its only games i have on here so not fussed about having to download it all again just want it to work so i can play it

nope none of that worked , did get error code: 0x8004de44 from microsoft
