Can't log in my old account and instead it forgot about it and created a duplicate

Hi all,

I have a big problem with my account in Minecraft launcher: instead of just having one account, which I was using for years I see two accounts somehow and both are associated with the same email (!big warning sign!).

It all started a few days ago when I tried to log in back into my account "UnmarkedBandit" it started asking me questions like "Choose your gamer tag" and "Choose icon", which was confusing to me, but I completed the login process and suddenly found myself in an brand new empty account (duplicate)! I can't see my purchases, no friends, nothing!

My old account had a blue diamond icon.

My new account has a king of spades icon.

Now look at the attached screenshot below, you can see I now have those 2 accounts ("diamon" and "king"), but no matter which one I now trying to use I end up in the "king icon" account. Screenshot:

(note: I see the "Image inserted successfully" pop-up balloon, but I don't see the image here, so I'll post this image here as well just in case)

Problem: now I stuck with 2 accounts both leading me to the empty one. This is disaster (for me)!!!

There's an option to delete an account, but I'm afraid that now Microsoft will delete both of them, since they're kinda overlap.

On a side note: the "king" account has all my "mods" (like:1.20, 1.18, optifine etc.), but not the game account (I don't see "Play" button, I see "Buy" button).

Also: when I got to the demo world it for some reason saved the exact same settings I had on my old ("diamon") account. example: quake pro, brightness settings set to max, bobbing off, etc.

How to restore access to my old "diamond" account, that I spend years on!?

Did you do the account migration when it was active?

The strange part is your claim to be using the same e-mail, I think that is not possible.

It sounds like you created a new account instead of signing into the old one. You would need the correct log in information for the original account.

If you can't remember the Microsoft account, try this https://support.xbox.com/my-account/microsoft-account/forgot-microsoft-account-solution
Once you have the email, you can reset the password if you do not remember the correct password.

that is not what happened...i´ve always used the exact same e-mail address and now my e mail address has a different gamertag. I have never created "CastGosling2133" It was just there instead of my real gamertag...

I forgot to add that I did try unassigning my old console as the "Home Xbox" as well when I was able to access my preferences for the account. But now that I can't log on, I can't change any preferences.

Are you sure you didn't accidentally create a new account instead of changing the email associated with it? Try logging in with your old email address and see if it works.
