Cant launch Forza Horizon 5 after installing through gamepass xbox app.

After reinstalling the game on C-drive I tried the fixes you list here above again. What I find is that when I follow your list of troubleshooting, the game actually disappears from the Xbox app. When I search for it in settings -> Apps it is nowhere to be found there either. When I search for the game using Win key it appears but nothing happens when I press open on it.

I have had this game on xbox app gamepass before and it was running just fine. I am paying for this service now to play it again, and now it wont even open. I would appreciate if you would help me solve this issue.

I am on Windows 10.

I have not tried any other games on the xbox app gamepass, this is the only title i need from it.

I have now done everything you have listed here, but somehow now the game is not listed as installed on the xbox app. It only has a install button when it is already installed. When I search for the game with windows button and I press run, nothing happens. I tried to uninstall the game, but it still comes up when I search with windows button, but now I cant find the game in the installation folder where i installed it.

I am now trying to install it again, but on a different drive. However, I am now getting this error message: error code: 0x87e00196 and it will not download or install.

I was not able to test your fixes because of this.

I see, did you already tried the step 16 as well?

If not, please do it (is not the same as a regular update via windows settings)

If yes, I can suggest you other things (ones can be a it odd)

A. Reinstall the Microsoft Store and all its components. Use method 2 provided by Lester

B. Disable IPv6 in your network adapter
Open the Control Panel in Windows.
After opening the control panel, set the “View by” on the top-right corner to “Large icons“.
Click on the “Network and Sharing Center” option.
Here, click on the “Change adapter settings” link on the left panel.
Now, right-click on the active network adapter and select “Properties“.
Go to the “Networking” tab.
Here, uncheck the “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” option.
Click on the “Ok” button to save changes.
Then close all the windows, restart your PC and try again

C. If you have the game installed on a different drive than C:, please move or reinstall the game on a different drive (and the opposite)

If only C: drive exists in your PC try creating a new NTFS partition using some of the free space in your drive

After that go to windows settings > system > storage > advance storage options (this only if you’re on Windows 11) > where new content is saved
Under apps select this new partition / drive

Restart the PC and give it a new try

Additional information is needed, please tell me:

Are you using windows 10 or 11?
Is this happening only with this game or if you try a different game something similar happens?
And, what did you tried so far to fix this
In that way I can advise you different things or how to proceed

In the meantime try and double check this

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update
Click Check for Updates

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available (Install optional updates as well)

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services and update everything too. (Click on get updates)

Now, sign out from your account on both Xbox app and Microsoft Store and do this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then reset

Then do the same for the Xbox and Forza horizon app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then reset

Finally do this:

Step 1: Open the Run window by pressing Windows + R key.

Step 2: Input WSReset.exe in the Run window and click OK.

Step 3: Then a command prompt window will appear. After a few seconds, Windows Store will open.

Sign in again on both Microsoft store and Xbox app with your account and try again

And please double check and try this as well

Press Windows button and type Services

On Services App from the list of results, press right-click and run it as administrator

Scroll to the bottom and find the following services:

IP Helper
Xbox Live Auth Manager
Xbox Live Game Save
Xbox Live Networking Service
Gaming Services

And do this with each of the services listed above:

Right-click over the service and select Properties.
Find the Startup type section and make sure it’s set to Automatic (if not, change it to automatic)
If the service isn’t started, click Start to start the services

Restart your PC and verify
