Can't Join a Minecraft World Even Though I've Tried Everything

I have been trying to join my friend's Minecraft world, but it does not work. It hasn't worked for months. We both have open NAT types and we both have xbox live. Not only that but we also can both join other people's worlds. I can join the world of every other friend including those on PS4, but I can not join his and he can't join mine. It's a super weird problem and I've contacted microsoft support but nobody really knows what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try Signing Out and signing in back to the Microsoft store.
