Cant Install Red Dead Redemption 2 on XBox Series S (0x800701e7)

Hello everybody,

I'm facing a strange problem installing Red Dead Redemption 2 on my XBox Series S. In the Microsoft Store it shows me I own the game. When downloaded (just 105GB )

The game seems to be installed. While staring the game it says "preparing colud take some minutes". Then te preparation porecess interrupts whith the message "something went wrong 0x800701e7, try again later. This is the point I'm stuck.

What I've done yet is

- Re-Downloaded the game again --> check

- Install latest system updates --> check

- Verify for enough free storage --> check

- Did reset of console --> check

- Did unplug power cord for 30 Seconds and tried installation again --> check

- Re-Downloaded thrid time the game again --> check

All this steps did not help to get the game running. Does anyone have a idea or suggestion what could fix this?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

Kindly perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

Also, are you trying to install the game on your External Hard drive? Or do you have an external hard drive plugged into your console?

thank you for the quick response and sorry for my late answer. Extended powercycle did the trick. Doing that and restarting the installation works perfect.

Hey Manuela, sure thing. It was the Red Dead Redemption 2 deluxe edition for the Xbox one, not series x or s.
