Can't install PC game after move operation failed

Looking up “bannerlord” doesn’t bring up results, but nice try

Local admin lead to the same error as well

Also tried to delete all the references I could find in the registry, but it didn’t make a difference

Thank you for the reply - I tried that as well, and it didn't help!

I think the issue is, when the move operation failed, the game looked like uninstalled to Windows, but it left behind a number of things (like this folder, and several registry entries likely)

Are there maybe instructions to manually uninstall/remove all the traces of a game? Or, on the contrary, make Windows understand that it's actually installed?
The worst thing is that the Store app doesn't offer me any action once the issue occurs.

EDIT

even just a quick way to remove the active (but failed) installation from the Store app would greatly help, as I was unable to find a consistent way to make it go away

Just to confirm, inside this path "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps" you're able to see a folder related to the game, correct?

If that's the case, try deleting this folder. Probably you need to take ownership of the WindowsApps folder first:

Press Windows + E and go to the drive where game is installed.

Enter to the WindowsApps folder and right click on it and select properties > Go to the Security tab and select Advanced:

Click on Continue in the Permissions tab > Select Change > Click Advanced in the Select User or Group window, then Find now:

Select your user account and click on Ok > Click on Ok and Apply on every window and close them.

It's fixed! And... it's weird.

For future reference, a recap of the last steps, since I don't know exactly what worked:

- copy the installation files from G: (the drive I initially tried to move the game to) to C: -> install failed

- delete references in the registry editor -> install failed

- log in as new local admin account -> install failed

Then I walked away from the PC, thinking of the quickest way to do a clean windows install, got back after about 1 hour and the start menu was highlighting Bannerlord as "recently installed"

Looked it up in the store to find a big "play" button, which was actually unresponsive

Logged back with my user, hit install again in the Store, this time it succeeded with no download necessary, and the game was able to launch.

I would tend to think that the local admin was the fix, although the Store still failed at first somehow, or gave a wrong user feedback.

Either way, thanks for your time and for pushing me to try those couple more things
