    Can't install Gears 5 on PC


    Hi.

    When I go to the windows store to pre-download Gears 5 (I have ultimate game pass) I get like a proihibited or not allowed icon when I place the mouse over the install button.

    Just to try I managed to sucessfully download it on Xbox, so I do have access to it in theory.

    If I go to "manage" on PC it says "this app does not work on this device". I'm running a 8700k and a GTX1080 so it's safe to assume specs are not the issue here.

    I also tried to install through the website using the "install on my devices" but not devices are shown in the list. Not even my xbox. And yes if I go to manage devices they all show up.

    I've also run the wsreset command.

    What can I do?

    It looks like you don't have any applicable devices linked to your Microsoft account. To install, sign in on a device with your Microsoft account.

    Hi,

    You need the Game Pass application installed on your PC to download Gears 5 with the subscription, it can't be installed from the Windows Store.

    Is your PC running Windows 10 1903? and are you using the Game Pass PC (beta) app to download the game?
    Either the update or the app fixed it. It's downloading. Thanks

    Hi Pawer 8,

    You will need to update Windows to 1903 in order to download the Xbox (beta) app game launcher and then you will be able to download games available in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. If the update is not being offered in your Windows update settings, try running
    the Xbox (beta) app installer and it should also walk you through updating Windows.

    If you still can't update Windows to download the app, then try using the Update Assistant: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10
